out and about this weekend

With so much happening on the Coast this weekend, it has me wondering what kind of outfits I'm going to pull together for all the fun. Here are some looks I'm going to be grabbing some inspiration from which will hopefully take me from DOXA to the Fool Hardy Party to Sechelt Farmer's & Artisan's Market to the April Fool's Run and finishing up with some disco action at It's Disco, Baby in Roberts Creek!
FRIDAY NIGHT FUN: From film festival flare at DOXA to the raucous fun of the Fool Hardy Party - mix & match some clothes that offer a little bit of chic, a little bit of rock'n roll and a dash of cowboy fun!

SATURDAY IS SHOPPING DAY: Comfy and cosy clothes will keep you warm while you browse the Sechelt Farmer's & Artisan's Market on opening day.

SUNDAY SOCIAL: Chuck on some jeans and a sports jersey and you have yourself a preppy, fresh look to get out and support the runners in the April Fool's Run on Sunday morning. Then dash home and find your inner disco diva by throwing on a mini and heels before hitting the Roberts Creek Hall for It's Disco, Baby! in the afternoon.

Have fun! Happy Friday! And have a great weekend!

fingerwaves + sunday

Company B Jazz Band
Sunday 20 Feb, 2:00pm, Pender Harbour School of Music, Madeira Park
Presented By Pender Harbour Music Society

It's official, the Jazz Age is back! Boardwalk Empire, finger waves on the runway and now the sassy Company B Jazz Band is in town. The 6-piece group will be swinging Pender Harbour on Sunday with their repertoire of 1920s to 1940s classics inspired by The Andrews Sisters, Louis Armstrong, and more. Tix are $20 and can be bought from John Henry's (Garden Bay), Harbour Insurance (Madeira Park), Visitors Centre (Sechelt) and Gaia's Fair Trade (Gibsons). Charleston anyone?!

Here are some pics from the Prada Spring 2011 collection and the Dior runway show to give you the vibe.

home sweet home

My boyfriend's mom is about to undertake the daunting task of holding an open house. As to be expected, there's been plenty of talk recently about design and style and what people look for when they're thinking of buying a house. The thing is, she has the sweetest little home with some amazing vintage pieces but like most 1950s houses it needs a little refining before it's put on display. She also happens to be a fabulous artist (what to do with all the paintings?!). It got me thinking walls, colored cushions, textures, mirrors - all the things we can do to highlight the 'English Cottage' feel of the house while also giving it a modern twist. I found most of these images on Miss Moss' site. The girl has a wicked eye for design.

If you're on the hunt for house knick knacks on the Coast there are PLENTY of rad places so make sure you check them out. The Swallow's Nest in upper Gibsons is a must, as are ReDecor and Redfish in Sechelt. There are tonnes of others also worth sticking your nose into too (the Trading Post in Lower Gibsons is a guilty pleasure for vintage finds). Happy home styling!

dusk & mist

For all the mist and fog we've been living with lately, there have also been some pretty amazing sunsets. Taking inspiration from the greys and pinks around us, I think I'm going to be pulling on my grey skinnies and slapping on some neon pink lippy tonight before heading to Indie Night at Sechelt Legion. Sunshine Coast bands, Sinmobile, Get Away Van and BOAB are playing from 9pm and admission is free.
